Full Sun, Part Shade, Full Shade

This is a bushy and dense evergreen shrub with large, glossy, dark green leaves and attractive purple flowers. The flowers are followed by bright red, oval berries. To ensure good fruit production, grow both male and female plants. This shrub will tolerate a wide range of conditions including full sun to deep shade and dry to moist soils. It does not care for boggy conditions, however, and must be grown in well-drained soil. It is also available in a variegated form with leaves of bright green and creamy yellow.
